Out of one of the most qualified collection of applications ever, Hobbs rose to the top of pack.

Legacy Dental Group announced the awarding of the Seventh-Annual Legacy $5,000 Scholarship to Canton High School senior, Nick Hobbs. The announcement was made at a special ceremony at the Legacy Dental Group center and office.

The ceremony began with Dr. Glenn Stern explaining why Legacy started this program. “We have a passion for continuing education, and clearly, we have a strong passion for the health professional field. But something else that’s important to us is investing in the future of our community.”

Dr. Ben Bratcher explained the process the group goes through to select the right candidate for this prestigious award. “We each go through all applications and try to hone in on the one we feel has the strongest skill set for the medical field. Many of this year’s candidates were well qualified and will go on to be successful students and doctors. But ultimately, Nick was our chosen candidate.”

Bratcher told the scholarship recipient the doctors want to offer more than just the scholarship. “Nick, as you come to important decisions in your education or career, we want to encourage you to call and talk to us about those things, and we’ll be happy to share our experience with you.”

Dr. Gerard Macy congratulated the senior. “We know Nick will be successful wherever he decides to start his career. But our hope is he’ll come back here to Canton.”

Hobbs plans on attending Texas A&M this Fall.
